Immigration to Canada, also referred to as obtaining a “Permanent Residence status” or becoming a “Landed Immigrant” requires issuance of a Canada immigrant visa, which grants a permanent residence to an applicant who will be eligible to the same social benefits as those of a Canadian citizen (i.e. the right to work in Canada, free healthcare, free elementary and secondary education, subsidized post-secondary education), however, there are a few exceptions:
