    About Prince Edward Island

    The Prince Edward Island consists of the island itself and 231 much smaller surrounding islands. It is the only Canadian province that has no land boundary. PEI is sometimes called” the birthplace of Canada”, referring to the Charlottetown conference, which led to the formation of the country.The backbone of the provincial economy is farming – it produces 25% of Canada’s potatoes. The PEI economy also draws heavily on tourism and fishing. The province is renowned for its lush farmlands and beautiful coasts, as well as culture, arts and Canada’s number 1 golf destination.

    Immigration to Prince Edward Island

    Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) nominates prospective immigrants with the skills and experience targeted by the province. Through this program, successful applicants may receive a Prince Edward Island Provincial Nomination Certificate, which enables to apply for Canadian permanent residence with processing times faster than other immigration classes.The PEI PNP accepts applications under three major immigration categories:

    • PEI PNP Express Entry
    • Labour Impact Category
    • Business Impact Category


    PEI PNP Express Entry

    Candidates who are eligible to enter the Express Entry pool under federal programs, and are willing to live and work in PEI, may apply to the PEI PNP Express Entry Stream.

    Application processing times under this stream are 6 months or less. Only the applicants with skills matching the current labor needs of the province will be considered.


    Labor Impact Category

    This category is for individuals who have the skills and experience needed in PEI labor market. It is divided into two streams:

    Skilled Worker Stream

    This stream is for workers who were identified or hired by a PEI employer. Eligible applicants must possess relevant experience and at least a post-secondary degree diploma.

    Critical Worker Stream

    This stream is for workers who have already been hired by a PEI employer, and whose employer would like to sponsor them for permanent residency. Eligible applicants can work in a semi-skilled or unskilled profession.

    International Graduate Stream

    This stream is for recent graduates from recognized and accredited PEI universities and colleges who have already been hired by a PEI employer. Eligible applicants must work in a skilled profession in their field of study. “]

    100% Ownership Stream

    This stream is for individuals who will be assuming full ownership of their PEI business, either through the start of a new business or the purchase of an existing business in the province.

    Partial Ownership Stream

    This stream is for individuals who will obtain at least 33.33% (one-third) of REI business, or invest $1,000,000 CAD in the equity of a business.

    Work Permit Stream

    This stream helps individuals who wish to invest in a PEI business to transition to PEI on a work permit prior to receiving provincial nomination. During their time of a work permit, applicants are expected to begin working in Canada and learn about the business in which they will be investing.
